Online Application

For the initial stage I was only required to submit a CV and answer basic personal detail questions.

How to respond for success

‍My CV was one page so recruiters could read through it quickly. I mentioned I was expected a first class honors in my degree and mentioned my obtained A-levels. I went into specific detail about the most relevant work experience I completed, while the less relevant work experience was mentioned but with no extra detail provided. My CV stood out because it was very precise and highlighted the range of extra curricular activities I did. Consequently, I could elaborate on these activities during the interview process to explain why I was a good candidate for the role.

Expect a 1-2 day wait before progressing to the next stage.

Online Tests

For this stage, expect one online test with approximately 20 questions. Overall the online test took approximately 90 minutes. I prepared for them by completing all the numerical and situational judgment questions on the Graduate First website.

Example task

‍There were various numerical and situational judgment type questions.

How to respond for success

‍I would advise you practice doing timed math questions. Make sure you understand what employers are looking for before attempting SJT's. To get a good idea, take a look at their core values and culture.

Expect around a 1 week wait before progressing to the next stage.

Job Simulation

The job simulation took approximately three hours. I prepared using graduates first for the tests. Present yourself as having high integrity, being a team player and excited to learn.

Example task

  • ‍Which two loans would you recommend based on the data provided?
  • How do you introduce yourself to your new team?
  • How would you adapt to unexpected scenarios?
  • A previous project has important changes and you need to go back, but you have already been assigned to a new project. What do you do?
  • What do you like about Lloyds core values and how do you connect with them?
  • What attracts you to Lloyds and the chosen business area?
  • If you are accepted to the internship what are you most looking forward to?

How to respond for success

‍Use the STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for your responses. Give examples of the work experience you have done. I personally wore a suit and a windsor knot for my tie.

Expect a 2-4 month wait before being offered a position.
